Show brings Ayurveda closer to people

Thrissur: Do you want to know about the panchakarma treatment? Or about how herbs can be used for treating ailments?

‘Ayurveda 2010’, an exhibition organised by the Ayurveda Medical Association of India showcases the traditional Ayurveda knowledge in a concise form.

Various Ayurveda formulas and treatment methods are on display at the 100-odd stalls at the fair.

Other alternative medical streams such as homeopathy, Siddha, Unani and naturopathy also have stalls in ‘Ayurveda 2010’.

Those who are tired of having that bitter tasting kashayams have good news.

Now kashayams are available in tablet forms.

About 40 types of kashayam tablets are on display at the fair. You will also get ‘tailams’ in gel and ointment forms.

Stalls which showcase medicine to combat stress, hair fall and obesity have many visitors.

Many Ayurveda and Siddha colleges have special stalls at the exhibition.

Medicinal plants

There are separate sections dedicated to medicinal plants.

For the public to understand the various uses, every plant has been labelled with its Sanskrit name, scientific name, Malayalam name, uses and popular medicinal combinations.

Volunteers are there to clear any doubts. Plants used in the treatment of diabetes, skin diseases, and many other ailments are on display.

The traditional texts of Ayurveda and many health publications are on sale at the fair.

Free medical camps

The fair that has been organised in connection with State conference of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India will conclude on Sunday. Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran; P.K. Biju MP; Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA; and Mayor R. Bindu, will participate.

Free medical camps, awareness classes and cultural programmes are being organised in connection with the exhibition.
