“The Union government proposes to recommend provision of ayurveda treatment facilities in Railways and the Armed Forces,” he said.

He observed that it was unfortunate that India looked to the West for knowledge in certain areas. “The British knew how to truly subjugate India. They knew that India’s traditional knowledge and wisdom was its backbone. Hence, they tried to replace India’s ancient education system and culture with western values.” The Union Minister spoke about the profundity and efficacy of the ancient Indian medical system. “To ignore this system is to ignore the country’s heritage.”

P.C. Chacko, MP, and Udaya Kumar of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India also spoke.
