NALGONDA: Nalgonda Member of Parliament Gutta Sukhender Reddy has urged the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee to reconsider its decision of setting January 28 as the deadline for the Central government to come out with a specific timeframe for the formation of separate Telangana State.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Mr. Reddy said that the Centre has already made a significant move on granting statehood to Telangana, as was evident from the process initiated by the Union Home Ministry in this regard.

All the MPs of the alliance partners of the UPA as well as those from Andhra and Rayalseema regions should be persuaded to facilitate the smooth passage of a bill on separate Telangana in the Parliament, he said.

Expressing concern over the reported suicide by a tribal youth of PA Palli mandal for separate Telangana, he said, “Suicide is not a solution. The statehood movement should be spearheaded in a peaceful manner to ensure speeding up the process of formation of a separate Telangana State”.

Ex gratia demanded

The government should sanction ex gratia to the bereaved family of the deceased, he demanded.

Taking an objection to the reported remarks of Director-General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar on separate Telangana issue in New Delhi recently, Mr. Reddy said that such statements would have a bearing on the police force.
