Udhagamandalam: Flood-hit residents of Kurumbadi, Vadugan Thottam, Burliar and nearby hamlets on Coonoor-Mettupalayam highway who are in the process of re-building their lives got something to cheer about on Saturday thanks to the International association of Lions Clubs district 324B1 and the Lions Clubs in the Nilgiris revenue district. A natural calamity in the form of floods and landslides which occurred a little more than two months ago had turned their lives topsy-turvy. On learning about their plight, the service organisation had sanctioned a sum of Rs. 3 lakh as emergency grant from its international fund. Led by District Governor R. Nandabalan and District Chairman K. Prakash, the members distributed household items, clothes, provisions, medicines etc. Among those present were revenue officials. According to the Project Chairman, Chandra Kumar Galada, about 230 families benefited.
