KOTTAYAM: Saravana Raja (26) and Ramakrishna (23) helped Chennai Customs defeat Bangalore’s MEG 88-63 and win the men’s title in the all-India invitational basketball tournament at Athirampuzha on Sunday night. Earlier, South Western Railway (Hubli) staved off a strong challenge from KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram) to clinch the women’s title with a 69-66 verdict. The results: Men: Final: Chennai Customs 88 (Saravana Raja 26, Ramakrishna 23, S. John Plato 10) bt MEG (Bangalore) 63 (Tinu Joseph 16, Sweeto Francis 16). League: Chennai Customs 72 bt Central Excise (Kochi) 68; MEG 70 bt Jeppiaar College (Chennai) 61. Women: Final: South Western Railway (Hubli) 69 (G. Reshma 18, K.K. Nimisha 16, Smitha 10, Savitha 10) bt KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram) 66 (S.S. Anjana 26, Lizy Mathew 10, Sonia Joseph 10).
