Anantapur: Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Telecom District General Manager S.R.N. Prasad has formally launched the national “Udan Project” aimed at boosting the declining landline connections in the context of the cell phone revolution sweeping the country.
Mr. Prasad stated that the BSNL staff would be pressed into action to meet the prospective landline subscriber at his doorstep and take care of all the application formalities, including collection of deposit amount at his doorstep. All that the prospective customer has to do is to call the toll free number 1991 and inform the person his intention to have a landline connection and the rest will be serviced by the BSNL employees. He said that the customers could register their names for landline, WLL or a Broad Band connection. He dispelled the myth that a landline connection was expensive than a cell phone connection. Several BSNL officers were present.
