Daily wage workers seek regularisation of their services

Staff Correspondent

They work in government departments Memorandum given to Deputy Commissioner

Chitradurga: Members of Karnataka State Cooperative Daily Wage Workers’ Federation staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday.

In a memorandum submitted to the Government through Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas, the federation alleged that the Government was resorting to delay tactics in regularising the services of the daily wage workers in several government departments.

The federation urged the Government to regularise the services of all daily wage workers. Besides, they also demanded extension of retirement benefits to workers whose services were regularised earlier.

The memorandum said that the members have in the past submitted a number of memorandums to several Ministers but none of them had taken any initiative to concede their demands.

As part of their protest, they held a dharna at all the district headquarters. The federation threatened to hold a weeklong protest at the district headquarters before the budget session to press their demands.

In spite of that if their demands were not conceded they would launch an agitation in Bangalore, the memorandum said.
