MEG men on song

BANGALORE: Madras Engineering Group (MEG) & Centre swept eight of the top ten places in the men’s 12 km event of the State cross country championship that was held at Sagar, near Shimoga on Sunday. MEG’s Borappa M won the gold in the event in a time of 34:44.0 seconds pegging back the challenge from teammates P.M. Shanawaz and Santosh.

In the women’s (8 km) race Mysore’s Thippava Sannakki clocked 26:42.0 seconds for the title.

Men (12 km): 1. Borappa M (MEG) 34:44 s, 2. P.M. Shanawaz (MEG) 35:19s, 3. Santosh (MEG) 35:35s.

Boys: Under-20 (8 km): 1. Pradeep Patel 24:27s, 2. Shivanand Hadapad 24:49s, 3. Devanna Naik 24:27s.

Under-18 (6 km): 1. Krishnappa B (13:40s, 2. Basavaraj S 13:42s, 3. Sridhar S 13:49s.

Under-16 (3 km): 1. DaNESH s 8:46s, 2. H.D. Devendra 8:56s, 3. D. Yadav 9:10s.

Women (8 km): 1.Thippavva Sannakki (Mysore) 26:42s, 2. Seetha C (Mysore) 29:37s, 3. Indira B.E (Bangalore) 31:28s.

Girls: Under-20 (6 km): 1. K.S. Shruthi (Bangalore) 17:12s, 2. Sabeena (Shimoga) 17:20s, 3. Sujatha S (Belgaum) 19:28s.

Under-18 (4 km): 1. Shradha Rani S (Mysore) 16:38s, 2. Yeshaswini K (Mysore) 16:40s, 3. Meghna K.L (DK) 17:35s.

Under-16 (3 km): 1. Priyanka V (Bangalore) 9:43s, 2. H.S> Kavya (Bangalore) 10:08s, 3. Shakuppi (Bangalore) 10:34s. — Special Correspondent
