Star participant: Actor Tara at the Dignity Foundation programme in Bangalore on Wednesday Bangalore: Dignity Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the cause of elderly citizens, on Wednesday launched a set of services and privileges for people aged above 50 through the Dignity donor privilege programme. Under the programme, the foundation will provide members a 24-hour helpline and enable them to earn, network with peers, access counselling and also feel secure, apart from receiving their monthly magazine and other discounts, N.B. Jayaprakash, director of the foundation said. Addressing presspersons, he said the programme was aimed at improving the lives of senior citizens across the country. “We are launching the coloured version of our magazine, which can be a ground for lobbying for retirement and senior citizen policies. It can also be used to mobilise senior citizens’ participation through articulation of ideas to build a more caring society,” he said. Donor cardTo reiterate the commitment of the younger generation towards the cause and care of elderly citizens, Kannada cine actor Tara presented the first donor card to a senior citizen, Yamuna Murthy, on the occasion. “I am happy to be associated with the foundation. The new initiative from the organisation is a step forward to elevate the status of senior citizens by enabling them to lead a productive second innings,” Ms. Tara said. The programme has been launched in association with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. Call 42198395 for more details.
