The official website for the Hero Honda hockey World Cup was launched on Wednesday. The FIH and the organising unit have roped in MSN as the URL for the website which will be www.msnindia.com/worldcuphockey .

Regan sizzles

Sathyabama University routed Guru Nanak College 7-1 thanks to Regan’s four goals in a match of the S. Nagalingam Nadar memorial inter-collegiate football tournament here on Wednesday.

Chandrasekar wins medal

C. Chandrasekar won the first division monthly medal for January at the Cosmo-TNGF Golf Course here recently. T. Hari won the second division medal. Meanwhile, Deepak Krishnan and Shrenik Kumar won the first and second division tournaments respectively.

The results: Monthly Medal: I division: 1. C. Chandrasekar (72), 2. Salim Thomas (73); II division: T. Hari (69), 2. K. Karthikeyan (71).

Balaraman-Krishnan duo wins

Balaraman-V. Krishnan won the weekly pair event at the T. Nagar Social Club, with a score of 65.99 per cent playing North – South. S. Raghuraman-S. Kailasam duo finished first playing East-West direction with a score of 59.79 per cent.

Veterans’ championship

Tamil Nadu Masters Athletic Association will organise the 31st National-cum-International veterans’ championship from February 4 to 8 in Chennai on Wednesday. The meet will see more than 3,000 athletes, aged above 35, in action at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the SDAT grounds, Nehru Park.
