CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday announced extension of the State Government’s “Ladli” scheme for another five years to benefit more daughters of the State.Honouring girls for their outstanding achievements in various fields at a function in Panchkula near here, Mr. Hooda said the scheme, which was introduced on August 20, 2005, had benefited 86,820 girls up to December 2009. The Government had spent Rs.95 crore on its implementation, he added. He said the scheme was aimed at providing a financial incentive by investing Rs.5,000 per year for five years, on the birth of a second daughter in a family, in the group insurance scheme of the Life Insurance Corporation of India. He also announced that the State Government had sanctioned an additional 7,995 Anganwadi Centres.
