CIPS takes up courses and career awareness programme

GUNTUR: The Chalapathi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CIPS) has taken up a special drive to go to all junior colleges in Guntur district to tell students about the careers and different options in courses to help them choose the one that suits their aptitude.

The CIPS, as part of ‘Courses and career opportunities awareness programme’ decided to let the students realise the importance of pharmacy as a profession beginning with students from their own junior college on Wednesday. On Saturday, it took the initiative to hold the programme at Sri Bhagavan Sri Satya Saibaba Junior College (SBSSB), Tadikonda.

College principal N. Rama Rao explained about the importance of pharmacy as a profession. An M. Pharmacy student Ch. Krishna Mohan presented a power-point slide show and detailed various aspects of the pharmacy course like eligibility, duration of the course, application procedure, type of courses offered by various institutions in India, AP and the district.

B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy, Pharm D, and Ph.D were some of the courses and career opportunities in India and abroad. In addition to this, quiz, elocution, singing competitions were also conducted to develop competitive spirit among them.

The winners of various events were awarded prizes by G. Prasad, OSD, ANU. SBSSB Junior College principal Papineni Siva Sankar and the faculty were present.

Good show

Sri Mittapalli College of Engineering, Tummalapalem, Guntur, got 7th rank among all the affiliated colleges of JNTU- Kakinada in the final year. Potti Ganga Padmasri stood 8th with 85.87 per cent and third year student R. Anusha was placed 19th with 86.80 per cent. College principal and staff congratulated the students.

Job fair

A two-day job fair participated by a host of ITES, BPOs and core engineering companies was conducted at Vignan University on Friday and Saturday for final year students of B.Tech, MCA and MBA. Some of the participating companies were Infosearch, Allsec Technologies, L&M Green Stock Solutions, Red E Solutions etc.

More than 700 students from the host campus and neighbouring campuses – RVR& JC, Bapatla Engineering College, Nalanda and Loyola engineering colleges participated in it. The recruitment process comprised two phases: group discussion and personal interviews.

Eight recruiters selected 90 students. While giving their feedback, the recruiters said that the students of this region, though very good at domain knowledge, were loosing their share of opportunities to their urban counterparts because of their heavy mother tongue influence in English speaking. They advised the students to practice to improve their accent.
