Action plan of Gulbarga ZP downsized

Special Correspondent

The Rs. 218.62-crore plan is Rs. 32.75 crore less than that for 2009-10

‘This has been done taking into account the bifurcation of Gulbarga district’

State sector allocation in the plan is Rs. 161.28 crore; Central sector share is Rs. 56.94 crore

GULBARGA: The Rs. 218.62-crore action plan approved by the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat for the year 2010-11 is Rs. 32.75 crore less than the action plan for 2009-10.

Official sources said on Sunday that the action plan had been downsized after taking into account the bifurcation of the district and the formation of Yadgir district with Surpur, Yadgir and Shahapur taluks going to the new district.

The action plan approved by the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat is for programmes to be taken up by different departments in the seven taluks of Gulbarga, Jewargi, Afzsalpur, Aland, Sedam, Chitapur and Chincholi.

Sources said that while the State sector allocation in the action plan was Rs. 161.28 crore, the Central sector share was Rs. 56.94 crore.

The proposed allocation for the seven taluk panchayats is Rs. 64.49 crore, which includes Rs. 42.10 crore allocation from the State sector and Rs. 22.39 crore from the Central sector.

The allocation proposed for the gram panchayats for 2010-11 is Rs. 58.37 crore, which includes Rs. 35.42 crore allocation from the State sector and Rs. 22.95 crore from the Central sector.

A sum of Rs. 5.85 lakh has been earmarked in the action plan for the zilla panchayat to take up emergency works. Sources said that the departments of Education, Social Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, Backward Classes and Minorities and Roads and Bridges had been accorded top priority in the allocation of funds.
