VISAKHAPATNAM: Tamil Nadu won the team title in the 23rd South Zone aquatic championships which concluded at the Aqua Sports Complex here on Sunday. Three records were sunk on the final day of the meet. Damini K. Gowda of Karnataka, who was declared the best swimmer in group IV, bettered her own mark in the 50m backstroke winning in 37.17 seconds. On Saturday she bettered her own mark in the 50m breaststroke. Anusha Mehta of Tamil Naduwas in the record books for the second successive day. She swam the group II 400m freestyle in 4:48.66 in record time. K.S. Prajwal of Karnataka set a new mark in the boys group II 50m freestyle. G. Pranathi Bhagawathi brought a lot of cheer to host Andhra Pradesh by creating a record in group I 50m freestyle event. Individual championships: Boys: Group I: Sajan Prakash of Tamil Nadu. Group II: A. Ajay of Karnataka. Group III: Sethu Manik Vel of Tamil Nadu. Group IV: Ashvathaman of Tamil Nadu. Girls: Group I: Gulnaz Rawoof of Tamil Nadu and R.C. Sanskruthi of Karnataka. Group II: Boomi K. Motwani of Karnataka and Anusha Mehta of Tamil Nadu. Group III: Sherlyn Devadasan of Tamil Nadu. Group IV: Damini K. Gowda of Karnataka. Water polo boys final: Kerala bt Karnataka 8-0. Girls final: Kerala bt Karnataka 6-2.
