Officials had gone to a village to conduct gram sabha Tahsildar and other officials released after two hours MAHABUBNAGAR: Demanding that no work should be done until Telangana State was carved, villagers and local TRS leaders locked up the tahsildar and other revenue officials in a room at the gram panchayat office at Tekulakodu village in Kodangal mandal on Sunday. Kodangal tahsildar Hassanoddin along with other revenue staff had gone to the village to conduct a gram sabha. Protesting over the conduct of gram sabha local TRS leaders and villagers locked up the tahsildar and his staff in a room for two hours and later released them. “While students are sacrificing their lives for the cause of Telangana, you have came to conduct gram sabha,” the villagers confronted the tahsildar. They told the tahsildar that there was no need for organising any meeting and asked him not to work till Telangana was formed. Meanwhile, a series of protests were organised in the district demanding formation of a separate State. Vehicular traffic came to a standstill on the inter-State highway -- Hyderabad to Raichur -- following a ‘rasta roko’ organised by members of the Mahila Samakya in support of separate Telangana at Jaklair village in Utkoor mandal. Anganwadi workers also took part in a relay hunger strike at Utkoor mandal headquarters. Physically-challenged persons took out a protest rally in Wanaparthy. Villagers of Peddamandadi organised a padayatra to Wanaparthy town. Arya Samaj rallyIn Mahabubnagar town an impressive rally was taken out by the members of Arya Samaj and students of Dayananda Vidya Saraswathi schools. They formed a human chain and organised cultural programmes at Telangana Chowk. Arya Samaj members led by Muralidhar Rao performed ‘Yagnam’ at the relay hunger strike camp. Members of Mala Mahanadu sat on relay hunger strike at Ambedkar crossroads.
