Bangalore: To harness the energies of school children into the collective effort to conserve energy, Tata Power has initiated a unique school outreach programme, the Tata Power Energy Club.

Through this initiative, Tata Power believes in getting the youth to play a vital role in not only propagating efficient usage of energy, but also furthering the larger cause of educating society. After implementing the programme in Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jamshedpur, Belgaum and Kolkata, the Tata Power Energy Club was recently launched in Bangalore, namely at the St. Ann’s High School, Army School, St. Lourdes Public School, St. Aloysius and Ryan International School.

Students from these schools underwent training sessions and workshops focusing on methods and means of energy conservation. The company also intends to extend this campaign to various colleges in the city.

Prasad R. Menon, managing director, Tata Power, said: “We are confident that Bangalore’s citizens will join us and help us achieve our goal of sensitising one million citizens by 2010. ”
