Chandupatla inscription NALGONDA: The MA (Telugu) first year students of Osmania University (Distance Education) will now have a chapter on the historical ‘Chandupatla’ inscription of Kakatiya’s era, a living testimony to the illustrious life of Kakatiya warrior queen Rudrama Devi, as part of their course curriculum from the ensuing academic year. According to sources, the Board of Studies, Department of Telugu, Osmania University, has approved a proposal to introduce a lesson on the rare stone inscription, situated at Chandupatla village of Nakrekal mandal in Nalgonda district, in the curriculum for the MA (Telugu) previous year students of distance mode. The inscription, dating back to November 27, 1289 AD, furnishes vital information on the death of Rani Rudrama Devi. Puvvula Mummadi, a soldier and the son of Mallikarjuna, considered to be the commander-in-chief of Rudrama Devi, installed the stone inscription in commemoration of the death of the latter in a warfare in 1289 AD. The historical inscription was renovated under the aegis of Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali of Chandupatla last year. Thangeda Kishan Rao, the Head, Department of Telugu, OU, told The Hindu, that the move was aimed at familiarising the younger generation about the glorious Kakatiya dynasty. A plan is on the anvil to introduce the same lesson for the first year students of MA (Telugu) regular course , he said. The move would help treasure our glorious cultural heritage and the rich legacy left behind by Rani Rudrama Devi , remarked T. Saidulu, a member of Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali of Chandupatla.
