Six killed, 20 hurt as bus rams tree

KADAPA: Six persons including a child were killed and about 20 others sustained injuries when an APSRTC bus bound from Kadiri in Anantapur district to Nellore rammed a tree on the roadside near Nakkalapalle in Chitvel mandal on Monday evening.

Bus driver Khader of Kadiri, Guravaiah of Chitvel, Savithri of Thimmayapalle in Kodur mandal and two other unidentified men and a child were killed in the accident.

Twenty others were injured including three of them critically and they were rushed to Rajampet government hospital.

The driver while overtaking a vehicle hit the parapet wall of a narrow bridge and rammed into a tree, the police said.
