Exclusive: Jaggubhai Director K.S. Ravikumar welcomes Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at the film’s premiere in Chennai on Sunday. Actor Sarath Kumar is in the picture.
CHENNAI: The premiere of the Sarath Kumar-starrer Jaggubhai, which was illegally uploaded on the Internet sometime ago, was held exclusively for Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi here on Sunday.
The Chief Minister watched the two-hour-long movie at the Four Frames preview theatre in the company of the director K.S.Ravikumar, Sarath Kumar and his wife and producer Radhika Sarath Kumar.
Speaking on the film, Ravikumar said the film was tautly edited and its offbeat storyline would appeal to the audience.
“People would certainly not find this film boring and lengthy. The characters are carefully created and a lot of research has gone into the making of the film.”
He added that a few changes were made to the original script to make it more interesting for people from varied backgrounds.
The film created ripples in the Tamil film industry when it was illegally uploaded on the Internet even before the song sequences were appended and the post-production work could be completed.
Following this, the filmmakers made an appeal to the State government to take necessary action against film piracy. Subsequently, the government ordered a crackdown on those behind the illegal uploading of the film.
The film, with Shriya Saran in a key role, is set to release on Friday.
