Funds for Kendriya Vidyalaya buildings

Member of Parliament J. Helen Davidson lays foundation stone

Nagercoil: The Government has allotted Rs.9.50 crores for the construction of buildings for Kendriya Vidyalaya. The foundation stone was laid by the MP, J. Helen Davidson, on Monday.

The Government has decided to provide quality education to the middle class and poor people at an affordable cost.

The long pending demand of the people to have a Central School had been fulfilled by the setting up of Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Kanyakumari district was known for high literacy rate in the State and with the setting up of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, it added one more feather in its cap in terms of education, said the MP. The Tourism Minister, N. Suresh Rajan, said that the Government had allotted 8.68 acres at Konam near Nagercoil for the setting up of Kendriya Vidyalaya.

It had been decided to construct 36 classrooms, labs, official buildings, computer centres, playground, compound wall etc.

The Collector, Rajendra Ratnoo, said that the Parents-Teachers Association had donated Rs.4 lakh to provide infrastructure in the school.

He also sought the co-operation of the well-wishers and philanthropists.

The Headmaster of the School (in-charge), Subramanian, and others spoke.
