SchemesAddressing the Republic Day meeting after unfurling the tricolour and inspecting the guard of honour at an impressive parade conducted by the TTD’s Vigilance and Security guards, he listed in this connection the various schemes being pursued by the TTD towards the goal. Mr. Rao cited as the latest addition to the list the permanent ‘Kalyana Vedika’ being set up at Tirumala with all allied facilities, for the benefit of the couples who wished to enter into a wedlock at Tirumala. ‘Kalyanamasthu’—the free mass marriage scheme was the other programme which the EO has cited as another example. He said to provide relief to the pilgrims from monotonous waiting during darshan, the TTD would be introducing in the 2nd Queue Complex ‘photo-metric’ system, which the pilgrims could use, if they so desired, to leave the queue complex and return at the appointed time for darshan. The scheme is already under implementation on an experimental basis, pending its full-fledged introduction. He said a huge dining hall to accommodate 10,000 pilgrims in one go was being constructed at Tirumala for the benefit of those taking the ‘free food’ under the TTD’s Nithya Annadanam Scheme. Under the scheme, on an average more than 40,000 to 50,000 pilgrims a day are being provided free food. The EO also gave away, on the occasion, a 5 gm silver medal and a merit certificate each to 108 TTD employees for their in appreciation of their service.
