Vigour and excitement mark walkathon

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Some 200 employees of Larsen and Toubro, along with their families, took part in a walkathon on the Beach Road that started from Hawa Mahal on the occasion of Republic Day on Tuesday.

Carrying the massage of ‘Go Green’ in placards and banners, the enthusiastic participants distributed pamphlets and caps and raised slogans during the event. The event was organised as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the company.

Many children also actively took part in the walkathon and completed the walk with vigour and excitement. The tri-colour carried by the employees enthused a patriotic feeling among many other visitors on the beach road.

Spreading unity

“The idea behind the event is to pass massage of unity, peace and cleanliness on the occasion of Republic Day. L&T has been conducting such programmes at regular intervals for social service. Such activities will be held throughout the year,” Vikas Vasant Risbud, Joint General Manager of L&T, said.

Sand sculpture

Other important structures on the beach like the Submarine Museum were decorated with flags. A grand sand sculpture on the beach with faces of Indian freedom fighters made by students of Fine Arts of Andhra University drew a lot of crowd.
