62 Air Warriors decorated

NEW DELHI: Sixty-two Air Warriors of the Indian Air Forces were decorated with Presidential Awards on Republic Day. This includes Param Vishisht Seva Medal for six Air Marshals, Ati Vishisht seva Medal for 2 Air marshal, 6 Air Vice-Marshals and 4 Air Commodores.

PVSM was conferred on Air Marshal Jyoti Narayan Burma, Air Officer-in-charge Administration, Air Marshal Venkataraman Ramamurthy Iyer, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Air Marshal Tejbir Singh Randhawa, Director-General (Inspection & Safety), Air Marshal N.A.K. Browne and Air Marshal P.V. Athawale, Air Officers Commanding-in-Chief of Western Air Command and Maintenance Command.Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman and Air Marshal Joseph Neri were conferred with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. This year, the Vayu Sena Medal (VM) for Gallantry was awarded to Wing Commander Ajay Koul, Wing Commander Riju Kochhar and Squadron Leader Anoop Singh. While five other Group Captains were awarded the VM for devotion to duty, 9 Wing Commanders were also honoured with the same. The Vishisht Seva Medal list comprises five Air Commodores, 17 Group Captains, four Wing Commanders and a Warrant Officer.
