7 new AIADMK district secretaries appointed

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Wednesday appointed new secretaries for 7 district units, besides announcing 36 office-bearers for the party’s headquarters and office-bearers for organisations affiliated to the party. Ms. Jayalalithaa was re-elected general secretary.

Twenty-one office-bearers of the headquarters have also been given the responsibility of party organisations in the districts.

For South Chennai district unit, party MLA G. Senthamilan, representing Saidapet constituency, has been appointed as the secretary. He has replaced V.P.Kalairajan, another MLA, representing T.Nagar constituency.

K.K. Umadevan has been appointed as the new district secretary of Sivaganga in the place of Chozhan Seetha Palanisamy. The new district secretary of Dharmapuri is R. Anbazhagan. He has replaced Thennarasu.

Aani Muthu is the new secretary of the party’s Ramanathapuram district unit. The vacancy was caused by the defection of former Minister V.Sathiyamurthy to the DMK.

Thoothukudi district unit also has got a new secretary. The vacancy was first caused by the defection of former Minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan to the DMK. He was replaced by another former Minister S.V.Shanmuganathan. Now Pallathur Murugesan has been appointed as the new district secretary.

The new secretary for Krishnagiri district unit is C.V.Rajendran. He has taken over from Krisnamurthy.

K.P. Venkatachalam is the new secretary of the Erode rural district unit. He has replaced K.S.Palanisamy.

In the party structure the notable changes are appointment of C. Ponnaiyan as the organisation secretary, who functioned as the political advisor.

Former Minister B. Valaramathi, who was the secretary of the party’s women’s wing, has also been appointed as the organisation secretary. Former MP Gokula Indira has replaced Ms Valarmathi.

Another former Minister Thalavai Sundaram, the secretary of J. Jayalalithaa Peravai, has also been appointed as organisation secretary. Former Minister Nainar Nagendran is the new secretary of J. Jayalalithaa Peravai.

The new MGR youth wing secretary of the party is Adhi Rajaram. He has taken over from KAK Mukil, the son of former Minister K.A.Krishnasamy.
