Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner P. Sivanandi said that in a bid to reduce incidence of footboard travel, personnel would be posted at bus stops and traffic signals for a drive against those travelling in footboard of buses. Those travelling on footboard would be made to alight from the bus and penalty would be imposed on them and the bus crew would be sensitised. In the event of the crew remaining silent about footboard travel or encouraging the same, the police would take it up with the TNSTC and private bus owners. The objective behind the drive was to ensure that city roads were safer and footboard travellers never die on the roads.
