India dismayed over fresh attacks

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday expressed dismay over fresh incidents of violence against Indians in Australia, including the latest attacks on four Indians in Brisbane.

Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur pointed out that Mr. Krishna conveyed to his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith in London on Wednesday that the attacks were “particularly worrisome” as the Indian community individuals “appear to be singled out.”

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. Smith told Mr. Krishna that a high-level working group was set up under his overall charge to deal on an urgent basis with the issue.

Meanwhile, Indian High Commissioner to Australia Sujatha Singh is visiting Brisbane and meeting community leaders and members of the Queensland Police authorities to discuss the recent attacks.
