Lego League India — robotics competition tomorrow

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The First Lego League India, a robotics competition organised by Techtronics Education, will be held here on Saturday.

This year’s challenge, Smart Move, requires children to focus on a very contextual and important issue facing the world today — safe and efficient transportation. The contest calls for teams to research and present their own creative applications of solutions to improve people’s lives. What will hopefully culminate in the FLL India is weeks of research and design, where more than 300 children and mentors will demonstrate their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, teamwork, competitive play, sportsmanship, and sense of community. The Southern Chapter, being held in Bangalore, will be hosted by SAP Labs at its Whitefield campus. The FLL is an international programme for children aged between nine and 16. Every September, FLL announces the annual challenge to teams, engaging them in authentic scientific research and hands-on robotics design. It is judged in four areas: project presentation, robot performance, technical design and programming of the robot and teamwork. The honour goes to the team that best exemplifies the “spirit and values of the programme”.
