BANGALORE: The street play festival organised by Aavishkar will be staged as originally scheduled at Malleswaram Grounds in Bangalore from January 29 to 31 after the Bharatiya Janata Party decided to move the January 30 swearing in ceremony of its State unit president to the National College grounds in Basavanagudi. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had withdrawn permission to Aavishkar which had paid the rent amount to the palike, prompting the festival organiser to move the High Court. In its letter to the Aavishkar on January 27, 2010 , the BBMP said the Malleswram Grounds was being let out to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it wanted to conduct the swearing in ceremony. Shocked by the BBMP letter, Aavishkar had moved the High Court. It assailed the BBMP decision to withdraw permission at last moment. When the matter came up before Justice B.S. Patil, the BBMP said it had withdrawn the January 27 cancellation order after the BJP decided to shift the venue for its public function.
