Ex-SAAP official convicted

HYDERABAD: A local special court sentenced R. Venkateswara Rao, former Assistant Director of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, Gachibowli, Ranga Reddy district, to undergo two-year rigorous imprisonment following his conviction in a corruption case.
Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught him six years ago on charge of accepting Rs. 10,000 bribe from a person for settlement of catering charges, according to a press release.
In another case, the government had dismissed Linga Narsinga Rao, Tax Inspector of GHMC, Secunderabad, following his conviction in a corruption case by a local special court.
Earlier, he was arrested by the ACB officials for receiving Rs. 2,500 bribe from a complainant.
The court sentenced him to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment holding him guilty of the charge.
