Tania holds Malakhatko

NEW DELHI: Tania Sachdev held Belgium’s Grandmaster Vadim Malakhatko but K. Humpy dropped half a point to French IM Clovis Vernay in the second round of the Gibtelecom Masters chess tournament in Gibraltar on Wednesday.

Grandmasters Sandipan Chanda and G.N. Gopal scored their second successive victory to be among the 22 leaders.

The results (second round, involving Indians): D. Harika (1) lost to Michael Adams (Eng, 2); Sandipan Chanda (2) bt Irina Krush (USA, 1); K. Humpy (1.5) drew with Clovis Vernay (Fra, 1.5); G.N. Gopal (2) bt Husein Aziz Nezad (Qat, 1); Tania Sachdev (1.5) drew with Vadim Malakhatko (Bel, 1.5); V. Saravanan (1) lost to Falko Bindrich (Ger, 2); Nana Dzagnidze (Geo, 2) bt Kruttika Nadig (1); Eesha Karavade (1.5) bt David Collier (Eng, 1).
