Tirupur: Collector C. Samayamoorthy on Friday launched the logo for the three-day ‘Namma Tirupur’ sangamam, to be organised by Tamil Maiyam, a non-profit organisation based in Chennai, and the district administration here from February 5.

The logo has been designed by superimposing the images of Kangayam Bull and yarn cone to highlight the tradition and modernity of the district.

Mr. Samayamoorthy also launched some memorabilia like flags, T-shirts and head bands in the presence of Superintendent of Police A. Arun.

Father Jagath Gaspar, founder of Tamil Maiyam, told reporters that ‘Namma Tirupur’, to be held on Chikkanna Government Arts College grounds, would act as a platform for promoting some of the traditional art forms from the State like Oyilattam and Mayilattam.

The media partners for the event would be The Hindu, Kalaignar TV and 98.3 FM Radio Mirchi.
