“Village Administrative Officers play a key role”

Kanimozhi presides over State-level conference



SIGNIFICANCE: Kanimozhi MP addressing the Village Administrative Officers conference at Needamangalam in Tiruvarur district on Monday.

TIRUVARUR: Village Administrative Officers (VAOs) have a major role to play in reaching the Government schemes to people as they formed the basic structure of Governance at the village-level said K.Kanimozhi, MP at Needamangalam near here on Monday.

Schemes

Speaking at the State-level conference of the representatives of various VAO associations, Kanimozhi said that be it the Re. one kg rice scheme or Kalaignar’s Health insurance scheme for life saving treatment, VAOs certificates are required.

For entering names in voters list also their certificate is necessary.

Thus even elections can not be held without them. They provide birth and death certificates.

They are the people who maintain village accounts. They should help the Government in implementing various welfare schemes properly she said.

Demands

She assured to convey the demands of the VAOs to the Chief Minister who will certainly take action to fulfil them.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Village Administrative Officers Association (TNVAOA) presented their demands to Kanimozhi. Main demands include abolition of daily dairy maintainance of their activities, promotion to those who have completed 10 and 20 years of service, payment of Rs. 800 as office maintenance charges every year to the VAO, etc.

C.T.Meenakshi Sundaram, State president, TNVAOA presided.

K.Venkateswaran, General secretary and others participated in the conference.
