KOTTAYAM: The Kottayam Merchants’ Association, affiliated to the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithy (KVVES), will commence its year-long golden jubilee celebrations on Friday. Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the celebrations at a special function to be held at the Merchants’ Association auditorium. District president of the association T.D. Joseph will preside over the function. KVVES State president T. Nasiruddin will deliver the keynote address. Commercial institutions in the town will remain closed from 2 p.m. on Friday.
