Sandal wood auction

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some 18,583.67 kg of sandalwood was auctioned for Rs.8.4 crore at the sandalwood depot of the Forest Department in Marayoor on Wednesday. The auctioned items included sandal wood of classes five to 13, root of sandal wood, mixed chips, saw dust and powder. Devaswoms, individuals and companies participated. The largest quantity went to Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd.— Special Cortrespondent
