MCD ordered to pay compensation
Staff reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to pay a compensation of Rs.7.5 lakh each to the families of two minors who were drowned in a pit dug up in a park at Shakurpur here this past December.
The civic body had informed the Court last year that it was ready to pay compensation to the families of the victims.
A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice A. P. Shah and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw passed the direction on a suo motu petition.
The Court had last year transferred investigation of the case to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police after perusing an investigation report submitted by the Station House Officer of Saraswati Vihar police station and expressing dissatisfaction over it.
