Mehta claims “right of privacy”

New Delhi: Justice Valmiki J Mehta of the Delhi High Court has refused to divulge details of his fixed assets claiming the “right of privacy.”

“Exercising my right of privacy and due to personal concerns, the details of fixed deposits in banks are not being put on the website. However, such details are with the Chief Justice and all other requisite authorities.”

His refusal comes in the backdrop of the recent decision by Supreme Court judges to withdraw details of their bank assets from the website apprehending hacking by potential fraudsters. Justice Mehta, however, gave details of his other assets which included three flats in Delhi in his name, and four plots in his personal name — three in Delhi and one in Nainital. Justice Mehta said his wife owned five plots — four in Delhi and one in Nainital. — PTI
