Adulterated oil seized

KOCHI: The City Police arrested three persons and confiscated 16 tonnes of adulterated coconut oil from Thripunithura near here on Friday.

The arrested were Varghese, 40, of Thripunithura, and his aides Suresh, 38, of Perumbalam and Sabu, 42, of Vaikom. The police also took into custody two tanker lorry drivers, Nagarajan and Thanakaraj , both from Kumbakkonam in Tamil Nadu, who brought in the adulterated oil. The seized oil was subjected to preliminary chemical tests, which showed high amount of adulteration. — Staff Reporter
