Udhayam CC triumphs

DINDIGUL: Udhayam CC defeated Hindustan CC by seven wickets to win the Vignesh Sports Trophy in the Dindigul DCA silver jubilee district-level Twenty20 cricket tournament here on Sunday.

The scores: Final: Hindustan CC 74 in 17.1 overs (Kaviarasu four for 10) lost to Udhayam CC 75 for three in 6.3 overs (A. Arun 39).

Semifinals: Kannappar CC 101 in 17.3 overs (M. Arun 32, A. Arun four for 18) lost to Udhayam CC 102 for nine in 19.2 overs (Srinivasan 31).

Hindustan CC 104 for eight in 20 overs bt JSBZ CC 93 for nine in 20 overs (E. Subash 35).

Special awards: Best batsman: M. Arun (Kannappar); Best bowler: Ramesh (Udhayam); Best all rounder: Velmurugan (Hindustan); Man of the final: Kaviarasu (Udhayam); Player of the tournament: A. Arun (Udhayam).

Big win

Gnanaprakasamoorthy (117) and Sekar (five for 22) starred in Syed Ammal Engineering College’s 85-run win over National CC in a first round match of the Venhu Trophy State-level T20 cricket tournament, organised by Nehru CC, in Ramanathapuram.

The scores (first round): Syed Ammal EC 206 for three in 20 overs (Gnanaprakasamoorthy 117, Silambarsan 56) bt National CC 121 in 17.5 overs (Karthik 25, Sekar five for 22, Wahith Khan three for 16).

Devakottai CC 110 for seven in 20 overs (Suresh Kumar 37, Venkatesh three for 19) lost to Pearl City Warriors 111 for two in 13.3 overs (Muthukumar 71, Ganesh 32).

Grand Slam CC 106 for nine in 20 overs (Dinesh Kumar 37, Mohan four for 24) lost to Rainbow CC 110 for seven in 18.1 overs (Lakshminarayanan 35, Thiyagarajan two for 22).

Mohammed Sathak EC 72 in 18.1 overs (Prabhu 23, Jeyamuthuramalingam three for eight) lost to Nehru CC 75 for two in 8.1 overs (Jeyamuthuramalingam 30).

Madurai cruises

Madurai registered a thumping 10-wicket win over Nagapattinam and advanced to the semifinals of the TNCA u-14 inter-District tournament in Nagapattinam on Sunday.

The scores (quarterfinals): Nagapattinam 70 & 99 for eight in 40 overs (Siddharth 62 n.o., Manoj Kumar four for 15) lost to Madurai 163 in 80.1 overs (J. Anthony Raj 52, J. Earnest Aaron five for 35, Kalidass three for 46) & 10 for no loss in 3.3 overs.

Kancheepuram 350 & 127 for six in 40 overs (A. Alwar 33, G. Jagadeesh 27, S. Ajith Samuel 27, P. Arjun three for 33) drew with Tiruchi 76 in 45.4 overs (B. Jayanth 33, M. Arunan four for 11, S. Swaminathan three for 12) & 103 for six in 25 overs (B. Jayanth 55, S. Bharath three for 32). (Kancheepuram won on first innings lead).

Krishnagiri DCA 80 and 30 in 25.4 overs (A.M. Abhinash eight for 16) lost to Thiruvallur DCA 210 in 82.4 overs (A. Deepak 109 not out, A. Jerome 42, J.S. Vijay Kishore Kumar three for 35).
