Double for Priyadharshini

TIRUCHI: S. Priyadharshini of Cauvery MHSS won the girls’ junior and cadet titles in the District-level ranking table tennis tournament at BHEL CC here on Sunday.

The results (all finals): Men: Pradeep Chandar (NIT-T) bt S. Hariharasudhan (SRRC) 11-8, 11-8, 12-10, 11-8. Boys: Junior: A. Sriram (KNMS) bt K. Thivakaran (RSK) 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 4-11, 11-9. Sub-junior: A.S. Leo Aldrin Raj (Campion) bt A. Anuj (RSK) 11-8, 11-6, 11-4. Cadet: T. Tharun (RSK) bt A.S. Joe Nithin Raj (Campion) 11-3, 5-11, 11-9, 11-4. Mini-cadet: V. Santhos Ram (Campion) bt T. Sangeetha reigns

P.L. Subramanian and P. Sangeetha won the under-17 boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the district-level chess tournament, organised jointly by the Rockfort Chess Academy and Rotary Club of Tiruchi Diamond City, here on Sunday.

Final standings: Boys: Under-17 (five rounds): 1. P.L. Subramanian (4), 2. B. Vanishree (4), 3. S. Ramesh (4). Under-13 (six rounds): 1. R. Maharajan (6), 2. K.P. Dhanush (5), 3. S. Naveen (4.5). TN posts win

Tamil Nadu scripted a 3-1 win over Selangor Indian Sports Council (Malaysia) in the first of the three-match football exhibition series, organised as part of Tamil Nadu Football Association’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, in Dindigal on Sunday.

Ramesh (two goals) and Rajesh scored for the host while Samarao netted the consolation goal for Selangor.

Nagercoil (Kanyakumari district) will host the next match on Wednesday.
