Will work for strengthening BJP at all levels: Eshwarappa

Special Correspondent

A team of special office-bearers will be constituted soon

SHIMOGA: President of State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit K.S. Eshwarappa has said that a team of special office-bearers will be constituted shortly with the aim of strengthening the party in the State.

Addressing a press conference after being felicitated by the district BJP unit here on Saturday, he said the team would study the present scenario in agriculture, education and other fields and submit a report to the Government.

The team would also be entrusted with the responsibility of assessing the development of all districts.

Condemning the incidents during the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) convention in Belgaum recently, Mr. Eshwarappa said that he had not imagined that the MES would create such a chaos in the name of language and border issue. He reiterated that the border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra was a closed chapter.

President of the Shimoga district unit of the BJP and MLC R.K. Siddaramanna, vice-president K.S. Anantaramaiah and city unit president Nataraj were present on the occasion.

Earlier, speaking after being felicitated, Mr. Eshwarappa said he would work for strengthening the party at all levels.

He said it was ironical that Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda and leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, who were at loggerheads, had come together try to topple the BJP Government. “They are bound to be disappointed,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Eshwarappa was accorded a rousing reception on his arrival here for the first time after assuming office as president of the State BJP unit. He was taken in a procession to the venue of the felicitation function.
