HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India has demanded that the government pay ex gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to families of victims who died in the building collapse at Narayanaguda on Friday.
CPI State secretary K. Narayana who visited the site on Sunday lamented that the municipal authorities were giving permissions to constructions flouting all safety norms.
The government had relaxed the floor space index norms for owners who surrendered their land for road widening and other works.
Construction permits were accorded to over 400 structures in the twin cities alone enhancing the risk of recurrence of Narayanaguda type of incidents, the CPI leader said.
