Events galore: Students of Indian Public School, Erode, performing a dance event at the annual day celebrations recently. (right) An exhibition of medals and certificates held at Kongunadu MHSS in Velagoundampatty, Namakkal district. - The Indian Public School, Erode celebrated its annual day on January 30 and 31, says a release from the institution. On January 30, the school management organised the celebration for secondary school students. It invited N. Nagaraju, Regional Officer, Central Board of Secondary Education regional office, Chennai, as the chief guest. The release says Mr. Nagaraju spoke on CBSE education and changes being made thereto to make it more relevant. He spoke on the Class X examination being optional and the school concerned making the necessary evaluation. He also spoke on the school affiliation system and the stringent laws that prevail in recognising a school. The release also says that School Chairman S. Chinnusami welcomed the gathering. Chief Executive Officer S.P. Visvanathan, Co-chairman C.K. Saraswathy, Senior Principal K.S. Muniappan, Principal Neil Guha, Rector M. Manju Bash, Vice Principal Shyama Mukundan and Headmistress Usha Ramesh participated. Students treated the audience to English, Tamil and Hindi plays, a synchronised dance and music, the release adds. On the second day of the function on January 31, D. Chandrasekar, Correspondent, Vellalar group of institutions, presided over the function. Students from primary section staged an English play, which was followed by instrumental music, dance and classical music performances, the release says. The Principal presented the annual report. Prizes distributedSengunthar Higher Secondary School, Erode, recently celebrated its annual day. A release from the school says K. Gnanasambandan, chief guest and professor, Thiagaraja College, Madurai, presented gold coins on behalf of the management to Class X and Plus Two teachers who helped the institution achieve cent per cent pass. He also gave away prizes to top three rank holders in Class X and Plus Two. The release adds that Assistant Headmaster G. Paramasivan welcomed the gathering and Headmaster D. Ganesan presented the annual report in the presence of Correspondent J. Sudhanandhen. The release adds that president of Sengunthar Kalvi Kazhagam R.M. Shanmugavadivel delivered the presidential address. WinnersD. Pavithra of Vivekananda MHSS, Paundamangalam in Namakkal district won first place in the Tamil elocution competition held as part of the youth festival conducted by the Paavai Educational Institutions recently. A. Sowmiya, K.S. Abhinaya and A. Ragavarthini won second place in the dance event. School president K. Nedunchezhian congratulated the winners. ExhibitionA medals and certificates exhibition was held in Kongunadu MHSS in Velagoundampatti in Namakkal district. All the medals, certificates and trophies won by the students in different events during the academic year 2009-2010 were displayed in the exhibition. Namakkal Superintendent of Police A. Pari visited the exhibition. Navarasam Educational Trust Secretary Kumarasamy inaugurated the exhibition. Republic DayVailankanni Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Krishnagiri District celebrated Republic Day recently. The students presented a cultural programme. A science exhibition was also held in the school for three days. Chief guest S. Sundharam, Head of the Department (Physics) of Government Arts College, Krishnagiri, guided the students on choosing a career in the field of science. Wins titleThe Vikas Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirupur, won the overall title in the national-level science quiz, essay and exhibition contest organised by Velmmal International School on its premises at Thiruvallur recently. A student of Vikas Vidyalaya V. Ratheesh Kumar, won the individual title. Sports dayThe Veveaham HSS, Dharapuram, celebrated sports days recently. Colonel Ramakrishnan, former director of NCC (Tamil Nadu Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands) inaugurated the meet. Training campThe Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, in Tirupur district conducted a combined annual NCC training camp for senior and junior division boys on its premises on January 27. As many as 122 senior division and 78 junior division cadets underwent training. ProgrammeA total of 19 NCC cadets of 2 (TN) Air Squadron of Veveaham Higher Secondary school, Dharapuram, successfully completed an annual training programme held for NCC cadets at S.S.V.M. Higher Secondary school, Mettupalayam. The camp was supervised by Wing Commander Subir Roy. Republic DayThe Jayanthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirupur, celebrated Republic Day with grandeur. Besides ceremonial parade, the students presented traditional folk arts. CompetitionsT.V. Sekharan Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, conducted inter-school competitions for kindergarten students. About 165 students from eight schools participated. A health awareness programme was also held for the parents. Won awardK. Deepsheela of Thambu Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, won the third prize in solo dance in the State-level competitions conducted by the Education Department.
