Panel to assess feasibility of sculpture park at Yanaimalai

MADURAI: The State government has constituted a nine-member committee to assess the feasibility of establishing a sculpture park at Yanaimalai near here, which has Brahmi inscriptions and ‘Vattezhuthu’ estimated to be more than 1,000 years old.

Committee members

Headed by Archaeology Commissioner T.S. Sridhar, it comprises seven government officials and two private individuals, Ganapathi Sthapathi and A. Arasu, who had petitioned the government for the park.

Mr. Sridhar told The Hindu that the committee would assess the environmental impact of the park.
