KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan won its seventh consecutive match in the domestic fixture drubbing BNR Sports Club 4-1 in a premier division encounter of the Kolkata Football League here at its home ground on Monday. Playing its first match under new coach Satyajit Chatterjee who replaced the Moroccan Karim Bencherifa, Mohun Bagan established a 3-1 in the first half with finding the goals through young Branco Vincent Cardozo (fourth minute) and seasoned Brazilian Jose Barreto, who scored twice (36th & 43rd) after John Babatunde briefly shone for BNR SC scoring the equaliser in 25th minute. Mohun Bagan enhanced its lead in the second session with BNR defender Sukanto Banerjee scoring an own goal to make it 4-1 for the host in the 61st minute. FelicitatedRazzak Ali, the son of a sex worker from the city, was felicitated for being a part of the Bengal team that won the “skill competition” in the All India Football Federation Under-14 football festival in Jamshedpur held last month. Durbar Mahila Sammannoy Samiti, the organisation working for the welfare of sex workers in the city which also has a team in the nursery division of the Kolkata Football League, honoured Ali for being the first player from such a background to make it to the state team. Bengal teamSourav Chakraborty and Mouma Das will lead Bengal respectively in men’s and women’s teams which will participate in the 71st senior national and inter-state table tennis that comes up in Guwahati from Wednesday. The teams: Men: Sourav Chakraborty, Anirban Nandi, Souvik Basu Roy, Anirban Roy Chowdhury and Souvik Kar. Women: Mouma Das, Krittwika Sinha Roy, Pallabi Kundu, Shramona Dutta and Kajol Das.
