Bid to protect mafia: BJP

Staff Reporter

PALAKKAD: The State should ask ruling party leaders to vacate the free accommodation provided by Tata in Munnar if the government is sincere in its eviction drive there, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president V. Muraleedharan has said.

Agitation

He was inaugurating a picketing in front of the head post office here on Monday as part of the State-level launch of the country-wide agitation against price rise.

“LDF leaders are accepting largesse from the company and are talking against them. This is done to hoodwink the people,” he said.

The actions of the government in Munnar are to protect the land mafia.

The Munnar issue also exposed the anti-capitalist rhetoric of the CPI(M), he said.

The Centre is responsible for the present price rice. The government used to export sugar at Rs.12.50 per kg.

It is now importing sugar at Rs.30 per kg and selling it at Rs.47, Mr. Muraleedharan said. The meeting was presided over by BJP district secretary C. Krishnakumar.
