Korean painter Kim Hyun Ju, Odissi dancer Rekha Tandon enthral India has much to offer to any foreigner, says Kim BHUBANESWAR: As part of its Kaladhara series of art appreciation initiatives, city-based Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre presented Korean painter Kim Hyun Ju and Delhi-based Odissi dancer Rekha Tandon. . Kim, who landed in India four years ago to study art at Tagore’s Shantiniketan, joined the Regional Centre here as an artist-in-residency to specialise in graphic art. “My exposure to India enriched my art and thought,” she stated as she screened a slide show of her works painted during her stay in India. She further revealed that India’s composite culture excites her to move across the country to study its rich art traditions and varied lifestyle. India has much to offer to any foreigner, she emphasised. Eminent poet and former Sahitya Akademi president Ramakant Rath, acclaimed actor Sarat Pujari, Orissa Lalit Kala Akdemi president Durga Prasad Das and several artists attended Kim’s presentation that was followed by a lively interaction with the artist. Film screenedRekha’s presentation on Saturday dwelt on an inter-disciplinary exploration of Odissi dance. She also screened a film to establish how the dance form has been deeply influenced by sculpture. Kaladhara series aims at bringing artists of diverse faculties and their connoisseurs to a common platform and to initiate an interaction among them that would enrich their creativity besides developing an appreciation of each other’s art practice, explained Akademi’s Regional Secretary R.K.Vedala.
