NAGAPATTINAM: All Panchayat Union Primary and Middle Schools in villages under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Scheme would be taken up for renovation during the financial year of 2010-11. The scheme for renovation of all panchayat union schools was introduced in 2007. Over 463.06 lakh had been expended under the scheme covering over 111 schools till the current year.
The project provides for mending of roofs, reepers, renovation and painting or whitewashing of the walls, repair of roof tiles.
Committees consisting of the concerned Panchayat Union President, Headmaster, Assistant Primary Education Officer, Panchayat Ward Secretary or Assistant Secretary, Taluk Development Officer, Member of the Panchayat Union would be constituted to inspect and ascertain the works. Each Committee would ascertain the required works and file an independent report. Letters in this regard had been forwarded to headmasters.
On the receipt of the reports, works would be taken up on priority basis post-administrative sanction and expenditure evaluation.
A team consisting of the District Collector, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, along with other Chief Officials would visit the schools to ascertain requirements and validate proposals.
