Guide:S.N.M. Ubayadullah, Commercial Taxes Minister, speaking at the book exhibition in Thanjavur. THANJAVUR: Book reading will enhance one’s knowledge and mould the character and personality of a person said S. N. M. Ubayathullah, Commercial Taxes Minister, here on Sunday. Delivering the valedictory address at the ten-day book exhibition organised by seven Rotary clubs of Thanjavur, he said that leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Periyar, Annadurai were voracious leaders. “People should develop reading habit. Books will guide us throughout our life,” the Minister said. Sethu Chokkalingam, President, South Indian Book Sellers and Publishers Association said that a total of 50,000 persons visited the exhibition held between January 29 and February 7. Mr. Chokkalingam said that Rs. 40 lakh worth of books were sold. “This gives us encouragement. We will continue to participate in the book exhibition which is going to be an annual affair,” he said. Children’s books, self confidence books and books on Tamil Eeelam issue sold like hot cakes. Rahul, an eighth standard student who came to the exhibition said that he was delighted to see all his textbooks at one place. Many visitors wanted the exhibition to be held every year. C. Gunasekaran, Rotary district chairman-awards, N. Manimran, President, Rotary club of Thanjavur South, Thenmozhi Jaybal, Chairperson, Thanjavur Municipality, CT. Ramanathan, Project Co-ordinator, Rotary Book Fair, participated.
