Guides and Scouts take part in camp

Motivating: Guides and Scouts taking out a world peace march during the two-day camp at Mayiladuthurai.
MAYILADUTHURAI: A two-day district annual camp for guides and scouts was organised here during the weekend at Tyagi Narayanasamy Municipal Higher Secondary School.
The camp witnessed participation of over 255 guides and over 415 scouts from about 81 schools. Total number of scouts, guides, scout masters and guide captains was 751. The two-day camp marked the observance of the centenary celebrations of the World Guide Movement. Other activities included an all-faith prayer to stress upon religious harmony and a peace march to stress upon universal brotherhood. Various competitions such as dance, drama, music, painting & drawing, songs on national integration, cooking without fire, first-aid demonstrations, erection of emergency tents, gadget building were held. Camp-fire activities were conducted at night providing a platform for the participants to exhibit their skills and inherent talents.
The meeting was presided over by Grace Franklin, District Chief Commissioner and District Education Officer and the camp was inaugurated by A. R. C. N. Shanmugam, Assistant State Commissioner for Scouts.
