Telugu scholar dead

HYDERABAD: Renowned Telugu scholar and national professor Biruduraju Rama Raju (86) died at a private hospital here on Monday following a brief ailment for a week. He is survived by his wife, a son and five daughters.
The Telangana Writers’ Forum and Avula Manjulata, former V-C of Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, condoled the death. In separate statements, forum leaders J. Jagannadham, J. Gouri Shankar praised Raju’s contribution to the growth of Telugu literature in Telangana, at a time when there were no transport and tape-recording facilities. Academician Chukka Ramayya, MLC, said Raju had recorded the region’s rich cultural heritage and promoted it in a big way.
